I always choose Faendal because Sven is worthless to you as a player, Faendal can be a follower and even a trainer. I personally choose Sven, not only is he the best singer of all NPC's, but if you get the letter from Faendal, tell Camilla the truth and kill Faendal, you can find a letter on his corpse mocking Camilla. She even sends you a letter thanking you after you kill him. Faendal is better for gameplay purposes, though.
